07 OCTOBER 2019

Yes, I was that lucky guy who got engaged with the help of Queer Eye’s Fab 5 and Netflix at the New York World Pride this year.

No, never have I ever imagined that I’ll do such a grand, once-in-a-lifetime and money-can’t-buy wedding proposal in front of thousands to pour my heart and soul to the love of my life.

Maybe, I’m crazy, over-the-top, sentimental and such a hopeless romantic.  But one thing’s for sure, the effort’s all worth it.

To find out the full details on the ‘who, what, when, where, why and how’ – watch the VLOG post.

My two cents worth from this entire rollercoaster ride:

For those in a long-distance relationship, remember to trust, communicate and define a long-term plan that you both will be excited to aspire for and achieve as solid partners.  When times get rough and inevitable challenges arise, channel your energy in finding the good, revisiting your foundation and deciding to let your love and commitment take the heavier weight than the momentary difficulty.  In life, it’s always a decision and not just fate, so choose well and fight for what you truly stand for.

For the LGBTQ+ community, in today’s day and age, we’ve already surpassed a lot and have generally succeeded in the arena of representation.  To further our win in the battle for global equality and respect, let’s go beyond waving the rainbow flag and physically marching as one community; instead showcase our authenticity, inspiration, contribution to the society and life-changing values that truly make a real difference and lasting impact.  More than shouting the ‘you should treat us this way’ statement, it’s high time to answer the question ‘what can I do to contribute and reflect the positivity of the LGBTQ+ community?’ and amplify our tangible, concrete actions for the world to see, appreciate and love.

Our biggest and heartfelt fat ‘thank you’ to everyone who made this experience the best ever – we owe you big time so y’all are invited to our wedding (details we haven’t even defined yet – haha!).

Our Fab 5 fairy godfathers Antoni, Bobby, Jonathan, Karamo and Tan.

Queer Eye and Scout Production Team including Skyler Jay and Jess Guilbeaux.

The World Pride New York Team.

All media outfits, journalists, influencers and social channels who amplified our story especially Michael Cook of Instinct Magazine, Erica Kam of Bustle and Hotspots Magazine.

My friends who can really keep their mouths shut especially when it comes to keeping surprises – Cris Buenaseda, Danelle Palang, Laurence Danez and Brian Simpson.

And all our ever supportive family members, relatives, friends and acquaintances for embracing us unconditionally.

Again, let’s all wave the flag, make the rainbow sparkle, keep the pride and spread the love!
